When God Meets You in the Mess

Have you ever had a passion project that life forced you to place on the back burner? Something you started because you knew it was rooted in purpose only to stop somewhere along the journey?

That was me.

Here I am, 3:47 in the morning on the last day of August 2025, with my heart and mind reignited like fire for an old passion: blogging and podcasting.

Earlier this week, I spent time with a wise friend who gently reminded me that I still have so much to offer this world and especially to women. I’ve overcome traumas that could have broken me. I’ve navigated storms that were designed to destroy me. For a long season, I lived with hurt and hid my truth. But that night, I realized it was time for a comeback time to walk in full transparency about my past and God’s grace in my present.

A week before, I had written these words in my journal:

“A lot of times we leave God out of our decisions because we don’t want to hear Him say no.

But know this: the consequence of excluding Him is always mess. That’s why some of us find ourselves in messy lives, messy relationships, messy homes, messy finances just mess upon mess.”

That truth hit home for me. My journey had to restart in the middle of my mess. God’s rebuke was evident in many areas of my life, yet His grace and mercy covered me still.

Proverbs 3:11-12 puts it this way:

“My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” (NLT)

This verse reminded me that correction is never rejection it’s love. It’s God steering me back toward the path He designed.

So here I am, ready to begin again. This is the season of revival for my voice, my pen, and my purpose. Silence no longer serves me, and God’s grace demands testimony.

Reflection

What about you?

Is there an old passion, dream, or calling that you’ve tucked away buried beneath life’s mess, distractions, or disappointments? Maybe God is whispering that it’s time to pick it back up.

Take a quiet moment this week and ask yourself: What has God placed in me that I’ve left behind? And what would it look like to begin again with Him at the center?

I’d love to hear from you. Share your reflections in the comments, or simply carry this question with you as you step into your own new season.

Because sometimes the comeback isn’t about starting something new it’s about faithfully returning to what God already placed inside of you.
